Lazy loadThe Spot-billed Duck at Tanguar haor. The Spot-billed Duck (local name is Pati Hash) also known as the Spotbill, is a dabbling duck which breeds in tropical and eastern Asia. It has three subspecies: the Indian Spot-billed Duck Eastern Spot-billed Duck and Burmese Spot-billed Duck .This duck is resident in the southern part of its range from Pakistan and India to southern Japan, but the northern subspecies, the Eastern Spot-billed Duck is migratory, wintering in Southeast Asia. It is quite gregarious outside the breeding season and forms small flocks. It is a bird of freshwater lakes and marshes in fairly open country and feeds by dabbling for plant food mainly in the evening or at night. It nests on the ground in vegetation near water, and lays 8-14 eggs. Lazy loadFishing with Thela jal at Tanguar haor. Baikka beel Sanctuary is one of the less known bird watching destination of Bangladesh. During winter ( DEC-MAR ) it becomes the host of various migratory birds from the other parts of the world. The beauty around the wetland (locally known as bikka bill ) is very amazing. The distance from Sreemangal to baikka bill is around 20 KM.The fishermen are fishing here with Bhehal or Thela Jal. Lawachara is the most beautiful tropical forest. The park is named after a small narrow tributary, named 'Lawachara'. Its previous name was 'West Bhanugan. Lawachara is also called a Bird Safari. Birds of different species are found here and anyone can always trek along the adventurous mud stairs, carved into the hills, while listening to the continuous chirping of birds. Large spiders throw open thin, huge web and amazingly stay on it. The web is wide, clear and visible as it is attached to the neighboring trees. It is also known that in the deep, dark places of Lawachara, animals like leopard, wilebore and even King Cobra settle their presence. It has black on the back of the neck, a white collar and a red iris. Both sexes are similar, and the plumage does not change during the year. Black-winged Stilts give a repeated high-pitched barking call. Young Black-winged Stilts lack black on the back of the neck and have grey-brown wings and back, speckled with white.
